The Carbon Power Board takes full advantage of a wider footwell by incorporating the Q-stance™, which allows for a greater base of support than any system on the market.  A wider stance not only improves comfort, as the rower suspends themselves through the stroke, but along with hip rotation has been shown to increase the ability for the athlete to activate both the adductor muscle group and the gluteus maximus.  The gluteus maximus has origins on portions of the pelvis (illium) and vertebral column (sacrum) and insertion on the posterior femur making it a powerful trunk extensor. An increased ability to engage the gluteus maximus will promote more trunk stability during suspension phase and more power production during the drive.
